The African Global Skills Academy and Solarpop bursary helps African, Coloured and Indian students aged 18 to 35 who have outstanding fees for the current academic year. It is open to students in any field at accredited South African institutions.
Who can apply
- Be a South African citizen
- Be between 18 and 35 years old
- Be African, Coloured or Indian (male or female)
- Have completed Matric
- Have outstanding fees for the current (2026) academic year
- Be studying towards a qualification in ANY field of study
- Be studying at a recognised and accredited higher education institution in South Africa
- Students living with disabilities are encouraged to apply
Documents you will need
- ID document (certified copy – not older than 6 months)
- Matric certificate (certified copy – not older than 6 months)
- Latest academic transcripts
- Proof of registration into a recognized South African tertiary institution
- Latest financial statement from your tertiary institution
- Updated Curriculum Vitae
- Motivational letter to support your application (read our tips on how to write a motivational letter for your bursary application)
- Medical certificate stating the nature of the disability, if disabled

Make sure you meet every requirement listed above. Applications that miss one are usually rejected automatically.
- Prepare your documents
Scan clear copies of everything the provider asks for, certified where required.

Students will be required to register an account (choose the 1st option – Solarpop Bursary), before they can login and apply.
