Who can apply

• Be a South African citizen
• Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
• Be studying or intend on studying full-time towards a qualification in one of the fields listed above, in 2027 (Higher Certificates, National Certificates, Diplomas, Degrees and Postgraduate studies) (the bursary will NOT cover Masters, PhD and other senior qualifications)
• Be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification that is 12 months or longer
• Be studying or have applied to study at a tertiary institution that is registered with the DHET in South Africa (the bursary will NOT cover studies at TVET colleges)
• Have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in Matric mid-year or final results, if currently in Matric
• Have achieved a minimum result of 65% per subject in Matric, if currently in Matric
• Have achieved a minimum overall average of 60% at tertiary level latest results, if currently at tertiary level
• Maintain a minimum overall average of 60% to be considered for funding for the next academic year
• Not be receiving any other bursary, awards, internships, or emoluments, that bind you to enter the service of any organisation upon completion of your studies
• Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions of the bursary

What the bursary covers

• Study-related expenses – the amount of cover will depend on the candidates field of study
• Their academic results

Documents you will need

• ID document (certified copy)
• Matric certificate/statement of results
• Most recent academic results (final or interim, as applicable)
• Acceptance letter/ proof of application from your institution (on institutions letterhead)
• Detailed information regarding the chosen qualification
• Name and address of the registered institution
• Proforma invoice/ estimate invoice from your institution (must be broken down into: registration fees, tuition fees, prescribed study materials or textbooks, accommodation and living assistance (if applicable))
• Proof of banking details of the registered institution
• Proof of address (affidavit or utility bill)
• Motivational letter, written in your own words – explaining why you are applying and how the bursary will support your studies (maximum 2000 words) (read our tips on how to write a motivational letter for your bursary application)

   Make sure you meet every requirement listed above. Applications that miss one are usually rejected automatically.

2. Prepare your documents

   Scan clear copies of everything the provider asks for, certified where required.

3. Apply through the official channel

4. Submit before the closing date

   Usually closes around September. Late applications are almost never accepted.

Applications for the current cycle have closed. This bursary usually opens again each year, so prepare your documents now and check back.
